 Robin Buss in Hong Kong
So much time has gone by since I wrote my first blog. I was a new model, in my first foreign market, trying
to swim the vast ocean of possibility. I gained so
much experience in Hong Kong, and in Milan last
summer. Two very diverse markets, both of which I
love.
Now that I have worked in this industry for two and a
half years, I can say with confidence that I am a
professional model. I know how to wow a client, how to
connect with all types of photographers, how to take
the runway by storm. Even more, I know how to let go
of the disappointments; how to grapple with my self
doubt and emerge an even stronger person. I've learned
how to channel my fear into a driving force.
This industry is a tough one to work in. As a
girl I already scrutinized my looks, but when that's
what you're selling, it becomes a whole new ball game!
You can lose yourself in all the opinions of what you
"are" and "are not." I've had to learn a lot of
acceptance and patience with myself.

But you know what? I have learned so much. Not just for
modelling, but for life. What I really value is
how all of these experiences charge my life with the
means to succeed.
Girls, whether you've been working a day or a decade,
I salute you. It is no easy task being a model, but if
you can take something good away with you at the end
of the day (whether that's a better sense of yourself
or an accessory from the shoot!) then you too will
succeed. In life.
Farewell friends, and thanks for listening. This is my
last blog for a while, and I want to say that it has
been a pleasure! You can reach me through Modelresource - I am
always up for sharing advice (if you hadn't noticed!)
This is one of my favourite sayings: Blessed are those
who are flexible, for they shall never be bent out of
shape. So go girls (and boys). Go out into this wide
world and show 'em what you got. I may see you out
there.
