Images' Courtney Mark

Travelling many hours and kilometers away from home isn't easy. Finding your way around a new place, learning the language, dos and don'ts is also not an easy task. Luckily this is my second time in Bangkok, so I didn't have to worry about the second part, I could remember what the place was like, where different places were that I liked to go, how to say hello, thank you, taxi directions etc. My name is Courtney, and this is my first blog entry on Modelresource.
I arrived in Bangkok a week ago yesterday in the afternoon sometime. So of course, coming from Canada, I was wearing pants, a t-shirt, a sweater, a light jacket and a scarf... not so much fun once you arrive here where it's mid 20s to low 30s at this time of year! The agency got a driver to pick me up and take me to my apartment, located in a place within Bangkok called Town in Town. The area is basically what it is called, a small town inside of Bangkok. The agency I am with, JIM, is located here, as are many studios, where sometimes castings take place. Of course, there is a 7-11, which I am sure there is one every couple of blocks, places to eat, pharmacies, movie store, grocery store etc etc. My apartment is great, its pretty new I think and I have a room to myself!
After arriving, I went to the agency to say Sawatdii kah (hello, in Thai) and let them know I had arrived safely. Immediately they asked if I wanted to go to castings that day, but I was not at all ready for that yet, I had just landed from two days of travelling. So I declined and said I would definitely go the next day once I got some rest. The days came and went, and I went to castings everyday, all for TVC's, acting like the crazy smiley model that they usually are amused by here. One thing about the casting process here, they do your hair and makeup at every casting... well, mostly every casting anyway. I guess they want to see what you look like, as if you were doing the job already. Luckily, this past week I haven't had to wait too much. I try to go early, maybe ten minutes before the casting starts so I can be the first to put my name on the list!
I'm still waiting to hear back from a few jobs that I am on hold for, so keeping my fingers crossed for the next few days! I am going to try to keep this updated every couple of weeks, so come back in a few to see where my journey has taken me!
Sawatdii kah! (hello, but also goodbye in Thai!)
