Nam Models' Willow (who Modelresource profiled in December) recently had one of those experiences that models dream about. The story in her own words...
Willow with Dsquared2's Dean and Dan Caten
The most outrageous show of the year; dancers, singers, nearly naked
sailors, super hot models, and celebrities. This was the Mac Viva Glam
Fashion Cares 20th anniversary and it certainly measured up to everything
I expected it to be. This year's famous guests included Pamela
Anderson, Dean & Dan of Dsquared2, The Philosopher Kings, Blue Man Group
and the National Ballet of Canada, who all added their own sizzle to it.
I was already booked for a knockout scene (with a crazy hat that looked a lot like a snowshoe). On the afternoon before the Fashion
Cares Show, I was getting ready to go off to do another show at Revival and
got a call from my International agent, Norwayne Anderson of Nam Models. I
was told to be down at the Metro Convention Center at 7:30 p.m. Yikes, my call
time for the Revival show was 8 p.m.!
The instructions were a little confusing and I thought I was going for some sort of media thing, but when I got down
there it turned out to be an even better opportunity than I had expected.
The Canadian twin brothers Dean and Dan Caten of the design team Dsquared2
were down there along with two other amazing models. The designers had this
incredibly gorgeous red satin dress which all three of us tried on in turn
and got to walk for Dean and Dan. In the end they said that they loved us
all but there was only one dress so unfortunately only one of us would get
to wear it for them in the show. I was really really hoping it would be me
because the dress was sooo beautiful and I would love to work with Dean and
Dan and be THE Dsquared2 girl.
The next morning my Domestic agent, Aaron Hawco of Nam Models, called me and confirmed that I was chosen to wear the
dress for Dsquared2!!! I was screaming and freaking out, I was so excited.

I got to the convention centre for my 11:30 a.m. call time and was told the schedule for the rest of the day. There was a room upstairs that Dean and
Dan Caten, Pamela Anderson and I would be getting hair and makeup in, and be
changing in. I had to go up there when I was told, and I could not leave
the show area.
At 4:30 the plan had changed and I was told to go
to the front doors where a car would be waiting to
take me to the Four Seasons Hotel, and when I got there I was to go to room
2009. I was treated like a VIP at the Hotel and following these
instructions, I found myself in a room with Dean, Dan, their mom and some of
their family members, as well as a makeup artist and a couple hair
stylists. It was like a party. They made my hair big and sexy with teased,
soft curls. The makeup was very sexy and Italian runway with serious dark
eyes. While I was getting my hair done I got another phone call telling me
that I had to zip back to the convention centre asap.
A driver took me back quickly but unfortunately I had missed the rehearsal.
I was explained what the choreography was and told that everything would be
alright. Later that night the Dsquared2 brothers came down with their
mind-blowing dress and dressed me in it. It had such a low cut in the back
that my butt cleavage peeked out.

Backstage it was a blast - everyone was drinking champagne, dressing, talking and were crazy excited. Dean and Dan
were hilarious and so fun to work with. I had to wait about an hour and a
half in these fabulous killer 5" heels holding the train to the dress so no
one would step on it. We got to gossip about the fashion scene in Milan,
where they live. They are the nicest guys.
My dress was to be the first one out in the last scene - "The Red Dress
Scene." I went out first, and with no rehearsal! They shoved me out saying
"Just go, go, go." No problem, I just did what I do best; have fun. The
runway was the shape of the big twisted AIDS ribbon and walking in front of
5,000 people made me feel like a superstar. The dress made its statement
and the crowd loved it!
After the show I stayed for the after-party with my
friends and other model buddies and danced up a small storm. Everyone was
still so high from the show, and it takes a while to come down.
This experience was amazing. It taught me even more about the industry. I
met some amazing people and will have memories that will last me a lifetime.
