B&M Models

PAGE FOUR

What impression do you want people to have when they think of B&M?

Melanie Mateus:
You're somebody here - you're not just a name. We work really hard to meet the demand on a daily basis - for our clients and our models. Our models are remembered for more than just their books or their looks. It's who they are as a person. I'm sure mom and dad raised them well, but we raise them into the industry.

Gail McInnes:
Approachable, reliable, honest, knowledgeable, realistic, current. We don't give off airs or create something that isn't there. We realistically look at somebody's capabilities and what their goals are.

We're all working together as a team, and I would want everyone to know this is an amazingly strong team. I truly, truly enjoy coming here everyday and working with everybody, and we really care about what we do. We don't just do this for fun or because it sounds like an interesting career. It is really hard and can be very stressful and we really do have a lot of focus on what we're doing, and we all have the same goals. We all work together towards those same goals.

Sarah Kelar:
I want people to think of B&M as dynamic because of how we all work together. There isn't a segregation between the men's board and the women's board. If the phone rings any of us will answer it. They can talk to any of us - they don't have to wait - ever. I think with respect to other agencies that makes us unique. Mel is the boss, and she's an amazing woman. She treats us all with such amazing respect, so you feed off that energy. I think if you have someone to look up to as a mentor that is so honourable, why wouldn't you want to be like that yourself?

We're also cutting-edge. We spend a lot of time on all the promotional material we have going out of here. We have our headsheet done by design people. A couple of years ago we were written up in Flare for having the first CD-ROM runway disc that we sent to clients to promote our runway girls.

Emma Barker:
I would like them to think that when we talk to our models, we talk to them as individuals. I think that's great because we don't say "these girls are this," but rather "this model is this." I love the way we work together and everyone knows what is going on with everyone else. We all talk and everyone helps each other out.
