Jessica Bakota in Andy Thé-ANH
This, on the right, is a girl I've been DYING to see. Montréal's Jessica Bakota started modelling in the summer with Giovanni, and in the last two months has attracted a LOT of international attention.
Since signing with Marilyn in both the U.S. and Europe, this 18-year-old has been carefully watched and promoted.
I had a chance to hang out with 5'11" brunette Wednesday evening, following her one-night-only appearances for Andy Thé-ANH and Greta Constantine.
She's one of those special types that brings an amazing attitude with her.
Bakota returns to Montréal this morning for a casting, but I'm very hopeful she will be back in Toronto before long.
Following Day ONE I pondered whether Toronto's mainstream fashion media would be savvy enough to pick up on the brilliant casting job Joe Fresh pulled off. Here's one disappointing answer.
Note the big photo of Simona McIntyre, labelled only as "A Joe Fresh model." Nice work.
McIntyre is a girl Joe Fresh paid to fly in from Europe, ahead of her shoot this week with legendary photographer Arthur Elgort in New York.
I really like the Toronto Star - read the online edition nearly every day - but I have a huge problem with this paper opining about the state of models (as they have several times) when its staff can't even be bothered to learn who the top Canadians are. It's akin to me debating darts vs. pleats. When you're out of your depth, don't dive in.
The fact that Heather Marks earned only a casual mention halfway through the same article is simply bafflingly.
Renee Thompson (NAM) and Christiane LaCroix (Next) in Andy Thé-ANH
Below is an Elite girl, Kim D who was one of several girls Andy-Thé-ANH brought in from Montréal.

On Friday Modelresource has the pleasure of presenting its first ever LIVE New Face Preview, featuring 20 models I'm expecting to see much more from in the years to come.
One of those girls is Next's Nathalie, who has been rocking this week.
If you're in Toronto and get the chance, you should really stop by the Nada Yousif show, Friday at 5:00 p.m. (immediately following Paul Hardy).
The amount of new talent in Southern Ontario right now is amazing.
Newface Nathalie (Next) in Playdead
The David Dixon show last night, quite simply took my breath away. The atmosphere, the clothes, the models - all stunning.
Also cast for the Nada Yousif show are these two AMAZING newcomers from Elmer Olsen.
Darlene and Victoria both appeared Wednesday for David Dixon
When I saw the FDCC was charging the public for tickets this year I was curious what kind of response they would get. I still have no idea, and since fiscal transparency isn't something the organization is known for, I likely won't find out.
I would however, pay to watch this girl on the runway. It makes me really sad to see Alyssa Lambert leaving Toronto today, before the shows are done.
