Imagine you're Pamela Bernier, heading back to school next week, and the teacher hands out the "What did you do this summer?" assignment. She's got a lot to write about.
Fortunately for Bernier, her booker at Sutherland Models made the homework a bit easier by compiling this list for Modelresource:
If you're a new model starting out, this is the kind of story you should keep in your back pocket as proof of the value of perseverance.
Long time model Anita Brown is finding a lot of success as an actor these days, appearing in such well-known titles as in The Dead Zone, DaVinci's City Hall, The Lone Ranger, Godivas and Dark Angel.
But despite an impressive list of on-screen credits she still puts herself forward as a model. "Not to sound cocky," she says, "but I know I'm good at it!"
After 20 years in the industry, she should be. "Modeling has taken me to places in the world I wouldn't have made it to otherwise. I've experienced different markets in Asia, Europe, and the US.
"Being in front of the camera is a fulfilling experience. I still model and would love to keep on going."
Congratulations to Belleville, Ontario's Liisa Winkler who became a mom last week, giving birth to daughter Stella Rose Boorne.
Winkler is married to noted Canadian ballet dancer Ryan Boorne.

Noot Seear
Vancouver's Noot Seear is taking an uncoventional, eye-popping approach to raising money for a good cause.
The 22-year-old will be baring all in her hometown Thursday, in support of Rose Charities - an organization that funds necessary medical procedures in war-torn and poverty stricken areas.
Joining Seear will be IMG's Erin Wasson, as well as a host of local models and personalities.

Eva Shaw
Seriously, seriously, seriously beautiful is the only way Modelresource can describe Eva Shaw.
I first met the Next brunette last year in David Hou's studio, and there was no chance I would be easily forgetting that face.
She appears in this month's Flare (which, visually, is one of the nicest Flares I've seen), shot by Chris Nicholls, and has also been stirring the conversation on Modelresource's new Discussion Board.
Shaw is in Toronto now, and will remain here until the end of September.

Michelle Valencourt

Meredith Mason
This is what happens when the school year ends for Meredith Mason.
This amazing Vogue Italia beauty piece - shot a couple months ago by Greg Lotus - appears in the September issue.
For those keeping score at home, 17-year-old Mason has now appeared in Vogue Italia, British Vogue's Class of 2006 (shot by Paolo Roversi), and Teen Vogue twice... all in the last 12 months.

Alecsa Nelson (Lex) by Owen Bruce
If you've been following the Modelresource Discussion Board you've probably already glimpsed Alecsa Nelson.
If you haven't, heeeeeere's Lex, the top model at the recent Top Model & Talent Conference in Kelowna.
The annual event is sponsored by Allan International Models, and this year featured V.I.P.s like Next's Corey Mann, Elite's Marc Rutherford and photographer David Hou.
Interesting story about the winner: it was the agency owner's son - who is the same age as the model - that discovered Lex two years ago at a bike race in Grand Forks, B.C.

Kelly Craig
Tuesday was a busy day for Modelresource in Montréal, getting better acquainted with Folio and Specs.
According to booker Alexandre de Bellefeuille, Craig's European fashion career is in overdrive as well. The 5'10½" redhead's new images are outstanding.
Specs' booking table (Emmanuelle on the right)
Heading north on St-Laurent, you'll find Specs, which enjoys a spectacular view of Mount Royal.
President Marie-Josée Trempe is on vacation right now, but the agency's head booker, Andrée-Anne Mauffette, took some time to better acquaint me with an agency Modelresource doesn't hear nearly enough about.
Specs has a long, successful history in the Montréal market, and features a lot of models that appear on this site when they find themselves in Toronto.
Victoria
Brown-haired, blue-eyed Victoria (on the right), is one of the agency's new faces we expect to be seeing a lot more from in the future.

Ishi, at the helm of Modelresource (the travel edition)
Modelresource finds itself in Montréal, poking around one of greatest cities in the world.
While collecting myself at Starbucks this morning, who should pass by buy "Ishi" (of mooishi fame).
He's been taking a few personal days here, but out doing a shoot today before returning to Toronto tomorrow.
Incidentally, I had a look at some of the new mags hitting the shelves yesterday (they seem to find their way to Montreal first), and was loving mooishi's contribution to Flare, featuring Alana Zimmer.
Heather Marks in Flare... Wow!! And Lisa Cant has never looked better than she does in the current Fashion Magazine.

Mae Woods
Next Canada has another compelling young face in town for the month of August.
On the right is 5'11" Mae Woods - one image from a story shot yesterday by David Hou.

Dana Wright
If you've been keeping up with Models.com you may have noticed Canada's Dana Wright among the contestants at the recent MC2 Model Search in Ecuador.
Represented by Elmer Olsen Models, Wright made the trek to Quito with her father, and finished among the top 15 contestants.
Modelresource first brought your attention to Wright last fall, as part of our Fashion Week show packages.
According to her booker, Ryan Greenwood, Wright had done a brief stint with MC2's Miami office prior to the contest, but has been spending most of her time working in the Toronto area.

Darius
Stylus Canada booker Jarrett Plyley dropped Modelresource a line to let us know about some recent developments out of their office.
Says Plyley, "Darius is now placed with Vision NY, and Folio in Montréal. He will be going to NYC for campaign season in September if not before for direct bookings. He also has tremendous interest from agencies in Europe.
"One of our other models, Amanda Steele has spent a successful summer in Barcelona and just retuned after shooting the cover of CLARA magazine amongst other editorials.
Katylyn Ryerson
"Also, 14 year old Kaytlyn Ryerson just returned from Taipei with her mother while working with FMI models. Her bookers are BEGGING for her to come back!"

Every now and then Modelresource gets an e-mail asking why we haven't provided a message board for models, their parents and those in the related industries.
Honestly it came down to time. A lot of garbage ends up on message boards and we don't have time to monitor it 24/7.
Still, we recognize the value of a community where those involved in the legitimate industry can interact and assist each other, so last week the Modelresource Discussion Board was built.
The last few days have been spent testing and reorganizing, and now we're ready to open it up.
This is the first step of a new Modelresource Network, which will be a more interactive environment that will help us understand your tastes and interests, to better deliver the stuff you care about.
If you have an active interest in the Canadian Modelling Industry we invite you to register here.
Now in Hong Kong, Cadman graciously sent along some more useful tips for models looking to travel:
There is an amazing program called Skype - all you need is a headset and mic and you can talk through the program to anyone in the world for free. You can also buy credit and call from your computer to a phone (that does cost a bit... but it's convenient)
If you're going on contract with an agency make sure you know what your resources are (If you will have internet, a kitchenette, a fridge...)
Invest in a universal adaptor and voltage converter. Asia has different outlets... even from Korea to China is different - so make sure if you're bringing things like a camera charger, to a blowdryer that you will be able to plug it in when you get here!
Drink lots of water, eat lots of dried or fresh fruit, and avoid too much sugar - travelling takes a lot of energy and it's best to have natural sugars in your system rather than processed
Remember that when an agency provides you with pocket money it's meant for food and transportation only. You should bring some money of your own for spending if you plan to buy anything else.
Other articles models should reference before travelling are:
Modelresource, Friday, got a look at an e-mail sent out to staff at nine Toronto agencies, inviting them to "discuss the upcoming L'Oreal Fashion week" with the head of the Fashion Design Council of Canada (FDCC), Robin Kay.
The meeting was originally scheduled for Monday, August 14th (it has since been changed to Thursday, August 10th), and invited attendees to offer their "concerns, suggestions and ideas."
Although Modelresource would be much happier to see ongoing modelling industry involvement, this is definitely a positive step and the FDCC should be congratulated.
The teen was discovered at a convention in May by Elite's Matti Gidilevich and Allison MacGillivray.
Says Gidilevich, "When we saw him, we both turned to each other at the exact same time and said 'ABERCROMBIE - Bruce will love him!'"
Sure enough, two months later Morgan finds himself shooting A&F Kids with Bruce Weber.
"Whilst only in his mid-teens," says Gidilevich, "he's definitely going to be one to watch!!"

Carolyn Hayes
In the aftermath of a massive, North American casting two B&M girls have reason to celebrate.
Paulina Murchie booked Abercrombie & Fitch, while Carolyn Hayes is shooting Hollister.
The pair is in Vancouver right now, where both campaigns are being shot by legendary photographer Bruce Weber.
Paulina Murchie
Their agent Gail McInnes broke the news, telling Modelresource "We are soooooo excited and so are the ladies. Honestly, my ear is still ringing from their screaming."
