There are five or six girls (at least six of this crew were under the age of 16) that were still so new at the time, that - nearly a year after they were cast - I still feel are going to have long, strong careers.
Making the most noise so far is former Model of the WeekTaryn Davidson, who has captured the imagination of the industry's most influential personalities and publications in recent months.
Her exclusive appearances for Calvin Klein in New York and Jil Sander in Milan are well reported, and now (in the past week) the Elmer Olsen model's book has added tear sheets from W Magazine and German Vogue.
On Friday V Magazine also tabbed the Brooklin, Ontario 16-year-old as their third-ranked model for Spring '08.
Davidson is someone that took my breath away from the first time I met her in February; so much so that I picked her as one of my five most likely Canadian models to succeed in an interview just days later.

Giovanni's Ashley Hart
If you didn't catch the finale of Project Runway Canada last night, the winner was none other than former Model of the WeekAshley Hart; someone this website has been a fan of for years.
The 20-year-old from Central Ontario stuck with the victorious designer, Evan Biddell, throughout the series and will be featured in an upcoming issue of Elle Canada as her reward.
Congratulations to all the models that appeared in the runway portion of yesterday's two-hour finale. It was simply a stunning cast, and an excellent show.

Chantale Nadeau's Amanda Tataryn photo: Miguel Jacob
During fashion week I had the opportunity to get to know Amanda Tataryn quite well. Sutherland kept her very busy with shows, including two of the bigger ones with which I was directly involved.
The Chantale Nadeau discovery has been in Singpore ever since, and has been working nearly non-stop under Mannequin's guidance.
Tataryn is experiencing the rainy season in Singapore right now, adjusting for castings by slicking her hair back. "I guess the edgy, dog in the rain look works though because I have been busy here," she tells Modelresource.
In her first few weeks she closed two shows (one of which was Chanel), did editorial for Peak and Luxx, travelled to Bali for a shoot, then to Malaysia for another.
Last week the 18-year-old walked for Loewe, shot for Shape and Seventeen, landed the cover of Female and did her first campaign for a brand called All Dressed Up.

Being so close to the equator hasn't melted her holiday spirit either. The 5'11" brunette has been surrounded by plastic snow in all the malls, and worked in several Christmas shows.
Among her roommates are Austalia's Next Top Model winner Alice Burdeu, and Montréal's Andrei Flinker (Giovanni).
Watch for the Waterdown, Ontario resident to appear shortly on the Levi's virtual-3D website. "That was a crazy shoot. Everything was digitally filmed so I had to do continuous posing on a spinning platform. It was like model dancing!"
Tataryn returns to Canada - and winter - next week.

Modelresource has always adored Claire Oleson.
The 5'7" redhead has established herself as not just a Modelresource favourite, but a photographer favourite as well.
A couple weeks ago the Chantale Nadeau discovery signed with Giovanni in Montréal and was immediately booked to shoot Tommy Hilfiger with Leda & St-Jacques.
The remarkable image below is was captured by one of Modelresource's favourite photographers; moo.

This is a girl that is almost too beautiful to be believed.
As few years ago the fashion world slapped itself in the forehead when it finally realized how much Canadian models have to offer.
Everyone knew ours were the polite ones, but when agencies started to do more online, people also started to realize the abundance of tall kids with healthy skin our climate produces.
Like the Brazilians and the Russians, Canadians have demonstrated staying power in the industry, and for further proof of that you need look no further than the current V Magazine / Supreme Models model search.
The five finalists were recently announced and three of the select group call the Great White North home.
Congratulations to Mode's Dara, Elmer Olsen's Amanda and 19-year-old Sam Voth of Winnipeg.

Andi Muise on YouTube
Fortunately I'm not a shy man, otherwise I would feel pretty silly sitting in Starbucks watching video of Andi Muise being fit for the Victoria's Secret fashion show.
The Michèle Miller discovery made her third straight appearance for the lingerie giant this season - an event you can catch tonight at 10:00 on the CBS television network.
Muise is joined by fellow Miller discovery, Jessica Stam, who makes her second appearance in the world's most watched fashion show.
If you get a chance, check out the latest issue of Nuvo Magazine (a Canadian publication, available nationwide).
There's a really interesting article on Liz Bell's Kate Bock, who has built a pretty impressive career for herself over the past seven years, including shoots with top photographers like Bruce Weber and (Modelresource all-time favourite) Paolo Roversi, appearing in magazines like L'Officiel, Elle, Grazia and Glamour.
The two page article (which you can read here) accompanies a fashion spread (shot by Justin Adam) and gives a realistic glimpse of a typical successful modelling career.
